Yet another successful day in Animal Welfare. A multi agencies team was put together by Waterford Animal Welfare today to come to the aid of 4 equines in the West of the County. The team consisted of a District Veterinary Officer from the Dept of Agriculture, Waterford Garda Traffic Corps, ourselves, Clare Coleman providing the necessary emergency shelter and MLHR (Cork). The 2 donkeys and 2 ponies were seized following long term neglect. 3 are expected to make a full recovery in time but the future of one of the ponies will be determined by our vet. She’s has been suffering the most. Thank you to all involved.
The mare pony above had to be humanly put to sleep by our vet. Despite our optimism the vet deemed it necessary to take this action due to the pain and suffering (Millie) had endured over a long period of time. This caused irreversible damage to her entire body. RIP little one
